ISLT 9440 - Learning with the Internet
Course Description:
Explores the potential of the Internet to support inquiry-based learning through collaborative activities, research, and authoring/publishing. Investigates goals and strategies of online learning. Examines learning theories and models of teaching/learning in relation to selected Internet activities for K-12 students.
Reflection:
When I started Graduate school I went in with the belief that I would find programs to connect hospitalized children. I believe first and foremost that online spaces connect. Learning about CrossActionSpaces I have learned that with the right direction that online spaces can create meaningful connections for children.
I also believe that learning with the internet can be creative. I was interested and went on to do my individual project on the LAUNCH program with the idea that children can participate in their care and create interesting and creative programs to help them cope and understand.
This course was challenging, but in the end one of the best because I learned and was inspired by many things including how to collaborate with classmates who were in a distance format, all on top of learning about excellent technology tools that I can implement in child life and share with others in my field. For my group project we developed a video that highlighted 8 collaborative technologies and their use in the the classroom as well as in business and practice.
I was very fortunate with my group that our collaboration was seamless and worked well. We choose to work in shared leadership all taking responsibility for certain aspects of the project. We were all proud in the end of the collaboration and result.
